What is some good resources besides the rule book? I was looking of officiating.com, and they have mechanics on a cd-rom but it says 3-man, will this work for 2 man? Thanks for your help.

The case book is an excellent resource.

Don't know if the officiating.com CD includes 2-man or not, but beware that baseball mechanics are different from softball mechanics.

ASA sells a CD also. I haven't seen or used it - just fyi.

AFA was working on a CD. Don't know if it is finished.

Another plug for the local group:

http://www.cactusumpires.com is an excellent softball umpire resource. Lots of articles on mechanics, positioning, and philosopies of umpiring softball, both 2 and 3 person systems.

The ASA CD is excellent. Has an interactive animation for 2-man and 3-man for both fast and slow. It also includes the complete ASA Rules as a pdf. Makes it easier to search for multiple references. Also can print full size pages.
