I cannot Tell you how much I hate the mat... It RUINS the plate game of umpires and makes a mockery of the slow pitch game....Its SUCH a joke.

If umpires who detested that version of the game refused to work it, and if the leaders of umpire associations refused to contract it, or demanded an exorbitant fee, it would go away.

Here in Atlanta, there are multiple alphabet soup softball associations. My association will only call ASA; if you want us, you register teams or sanction your tournament ASA. There are leagues that want 1 umpire to save money; we charge 150% the normal game fee for that decision. You can make a difference, if you choose to do that.

Mike,

That's good. Don't know if I would do it, but still good. That would be one of the funnier ways to eject someone.
