Lots of rumors about legality, but none of these rumormongers ever seems to actually check the certified equipment list at ASA.
Anyway, the difference between the two is the testing. 2004 was tested at 100 mph or below rebound; 2005 at 98 mph. (I may be off slightly on the test description - but that is the gist of it). Word from Anderson is the bats themselves are identical; only the sticker or other model ID is different. Even so, rumors persist that the 2004 bat is "hotter" than the 2005 bat, and some are making quite a bundle off of this on ebay.

Actually as per Anderson Bat Co., The 2004 RocketTech was a 98 mph bat. It was a misprint by Softball Sales listing it as a 100 mph bat. The only thing that they changed was the graphics. Look on E-bay now those 2004 bats are going for $ $300.00 used. If those bidders only checked with Anderson they could save a whole lot of money.
