Hijacked this from NFHS Forum....Give you snowed in
dues something to do. DUDES [Thank You] Situation: 5th inning, R1 on 3B, 1 out, 2 strikes on batter. Pitch is low outside, catcher reaches forward and her glove is hit by the swinging bat. Batter misses, catcher misses, ball bounds to backstop. R1 comes home and slides under the tag by the pitcher. Pitcher then throws to 1B to retire batter who did not run on un-caught third strike. You are the PU and you make the call: 1. Immediate dead ball, send runner back to 3B and award batter 1B on obstruction. 2. Immediate dead ball, award batter 1B and advance runner to home. 3. Delayed dead ball, call the runner safe, kill the ball, and send batter to 1B. 4. None of above; provide your own answer. [Edited by whiskers_ump on Dec 30th, 2004 at 12:07 AM]

Rachel of course got it, and she ain't even a "DUDE". Surprisingly, I am too far north in Georgia to be snowed in, that came further south! Strange weather we are having! Still no games though for about a month.
I might return the runner to third, placing batter at first were I coaching. It would all depend on the situation, score, and line-up. This defies conventional wisdom, (never take points off the board) but I might do it anyway. |

We went from several days of high 30"s daytime to low
20's at night during Christmas week, but now we are in 60's nite time and mid 70's day time. Really making good weather for catching colds and flu. Naturally everyone that has answered has gotten the correct answer. Hey, be careful over the New Year's Holiday.

Since we are on the weather casting bit again, the temps are in the low 70's for highs and the upper 50's for lows. I will take this over the freezing temps of the past week any day!

Cannot a thread go by without talking about the weather?
It isn't anything new, we have all been dealing with it our entire lives.

None of the above.
To elaborate on Rachel's answer, Delayed dead ball. Dead ball when B2 is retired. Offensive coach get the choice of the play or the penalty. Penalty: B2 awarded 1st. Runners advance only if forced, so R1 returned to 3rd. Play: obvious... run scores, B2 out. What the coach chooses would depend on the game situation. If he is way behind, he may choose to keep his scoring opportunities rather than the run and the out. I'm with Rachel - this weather has me bummed. Finally got some precip today, but got warm temps with it, so it is just rain. I want snow! Gimme some snow!!
