Here one I hadnt seen yet but what if in a co-ed rec league where no home runs over the fence are allowed a batter crushs one to left that is clearly going to go over but f7 throws his glove up hits the ball and the ball land inside the fence in the outfield. Do you award 3bases 4bases or make the out call? I dont know the correct answer really didnt see it covered in the ASA rule book. Thanks..

I definitely would not penalize the offense for something that the defense did. Go ahead and make the 4-base award. That's the regular award for throwing & hitting the ball with a glove that you judge would have gone over the fence. This would not count as a homerun or anything except an award. I don't do slow pitch, so I never see games with homerun limits, but I seem to recall that such an award is not to be counted against a team's homerun limit.

Right you are, Steve. You know a DMF when you see it. That was a very Dumb Move Fielder, and the award for a ball judged to leave the field of play in fair territory is a four-base award. Since it is not a home run, it would not count against any restriction, therefore, you cannot rule an out.

OP
I'm sure this goes for Mike & just about all other umps - good to have another on board. Now, when you do decide to get into fast pitch, try to pick up some of the summer's age group play too. At the older levels, you'll find that these are the best of several high schools combined. At the younger levels, they're usually like the best of several LL all-star teams combined. Don't know where you're located, but here in this part of Pa, we can always use lots more high school and ASA umps.
