I know this is probably old stuff to those of you who were able to watch some of the Olympic softball games, but since I'm cable and satellite deprived (or is it depraved...)...

I was browsing around the Cactus Umpires web site and I clicked on the link with pictures of "Marty at the Olympics."

Here is a pic of her behind the plate:

Question: how difficult does the camera, etc., on the mask make it to actually do your job? How about removing the mask? How about the weight? Just wondering.

Tom,

I don't know, never had to wear one. (Probably because I
don't games that would be televised. Not that I would not,
but nothing that big as ever popped up.)

I think the camera would be very light.

I got a chance to talk to Marty about a month before she left for Greece...

Of course, she was very excited and rarin' to go!
She was a little concerned about the camera though, and didn't know how it would affect her. I haven't had the opportunity to talk to her since she has been back, so the next time I see her (maybe tomorrow) I'll ask about the camera.

I asked her yesterday, and she said it was heavy and awkward....(but its not like she could say "NO"). She had a good time, but her sightseeing was a little limited. She said she was worried that if she went sightseeing and something would happen, she would miss her assignment and be sent home.
