Question

When stealing a base in 10U when can a runner leave the base? Is it as soon as the pitcher releases the ball or when the ball gets to the batter? I'm a rookie coach trying to learn. Thanks!

In ASA no difference is listed for 10U fast pitch vs. upper ages, it is when the ball is released. Most local, and rec leagues do stipulate that the ball must either reach, or cross the plate before runner may advance. The runner may only steal 1 base, can not steal home but may be put out if off the base.

This is of course for fast pitch.

I see you are from "WAR EAGLE" Georgia, I am a bit east of the other Auburn. Are ya'll playing GRPA fall ball? If so runners can leave when the ball reaches the plate. Bunting is also allowed,(it was not allowed at one time). If you are gonna do any tournament ball, you need to check with the TD. All of them will be a little different.
