Got the league postseason tournament this weekend, started tonight. I found out I got the 12U and 14U A division semifinal and championship games over some really good umps, so I'm pretty excited about that. But this is my first league championship game (only my third year umping) and I would love any advice you guys have (ASA rules) before Sunday comes... these teams are very good but very competitive... it should be very good softball but I'm a little nervous...

The best advice available.....

DON'T SCREW UP!!!!

Look, you obviously did something right or you wouldn't have gotten the assignment. The only person you should be listening to is the individual (UIC, RI, etc.) who recommended you for the game, not a bunch of umpires on a board.

Just do what you have been doing.

SF,
I'm just going to be very general here - I think that's what you're looking for. Obviously, your assignors and evaluators believe that you are good enough and ready to handle this level of game. So, first, trust that they know what they are doing and accept as fact that you belong in those games. Next, continue doing what got you there. Finally, slow down. Things happen sequentially, decide & rule on them sequentially.

Congratulations. You got some good advice from two of
the best.

Good luck and let us know how things go.
