At present, 97 paid teams, 68 others have replied.
We could reach 150 this year. The largest to date
was last year's 132. Luckily we have two 12 field
complex's and two HS fields available. Then the
problem would be umpires.

We could lose several teams on day one because of the
new face mask rule. At the State tournament, only about
half the teams had the mask and chin straps. For
the Nationals it is mandantory.

We had one incident where a player was hit in the face
and lost 5 teeth.

[email protected] is the national director of umpires. The uniform is grey pants and cream or black shirt. The tournament starts on Monday, July 26th. Anne Foster is the Texas UIC and is the UIC for the tournament. Glen, sorry I answered the question for you I gotta get my post count up. :-)

Rachel,

Works for me. Are you ready for some long hot days?
If count gets as high as they are thinking, we will
utilize both complexes Monday and Tuesday during the
pool play. Don't know about Bracket. May have to.
I got the Ammonia, propell, water and gatorade. You
brining a chair? I have extra. Have a safe trip.

July 26-Aug 1. Yes; http://www.afasoftball.com/umpires.htm
Use Rachel's web she posted. Uniform is grey slacks, grey
shirt, and blue or grey ball bag.

To call in the Nationals an umpire must have called
at least one qualifier. The last chance tournament
for Texas is the weekend in Pasadena, Texas.

Have fun that weekend. I'm going a little farther south than that. The PONY Nationals is in Harlingen this year. I 'll wave at you as I fly over.

Rick,

Ron Cook is bringing in a team (umpires) from your area.
Do not know who all is coming. The count is up to 144.

We finished the last qualifier earlier today in Pasadena.
So numbers should be pretty well set. Sounds like a fun
week. Buddy of mine was calling as I walked in the door
and wants me to help him with the LL Sectional tournament
Mon., Tues., and Wednesday of this week. Guess I will
since he asked.
