I just wear combo's on the bases and plate on the plate. It takes an extra 30 seconds to put on another pair of pants. I have two belts, one for plate, one for bases, and have the base pants ready to go if I know I have "double duty" to do.
Unless you have a long walk to your car between games, you should be changed out of plate gear and into base uniform in a few minutes. It will take the teams that long to leave the dugout/enter the dugout/warm up another pitcher.
