Thumbs up

This year it is the Rule for AFA. Batting, running the base, or in the on deck circle, each offensive player is required to wear double-earflap helment with face mask and
chin strap. Have qualifier next week. This should be in-
teresting.

My ASA Local already has that rule (began this year). No problems this year at all except I've seen a girl foul tip to her face.. and no problem - saved by the mask.

I think its great.

Helmet Face Mask and Chin Strap

I did a PONY tournament this weekend and only came across three helmets without a face mask or chin strap. Without those features, the helmets could not be used.

Facemask & Chhinstrap

ASA requires a chinstrap in 2004 and will require a facemask in 2005

As the face mask is only a recommendation in PONY, was this a tournament rule? What type of tournament?

CecilOne,

The tournament was a PONY tournament (14 & under) and the tournament director decided to have Rule 1, Sec.29 also include the recommended face guard.

This is one area where I know that Dixie was actually ahead of everyone else. They have required both the facemask and the chinstrap for at least 10 years, if not longer.
