Started lurking around over there again, and noticed that these days there seems to be a healthy dose of umpiring bashing going on. Are these guys serious? Do they really view umpires this way? Or is this their "attempt" at humor?

Some are ignorant enough to really think umpires are out to get them.
Some are trying to get someone else to support their ignorance or sooth their guilt about losing.
Some are just ...

But so no one thinks I'm coach-bashing, most just don't see the differece between officials and participants, neutrality and of course, some have valid points about umpire mistakes.

It varies by individual, IMO.

Atindell (who has posted here from time to time) seems to be more inexperienced that anything else.

Sam just like to argue, frequently putting out something to get a response and then dribble out more detail as the discussion heats up.

Ron truely has no respect for any umpires anywhere.

Others, I don't have enough history with to comment.

As I said, JMO based on their postings over time.

Come on, guys.

I have a good time beating on Sam. Gotta have some place to play games every now and then

Do you think Sam is just that clueless to what we do and our attitudes toward our position or do you think he just likes to take the devil's advocate route just to get a rise out of someone? I have to admit when I was coaching and not umpiring I felt like many people here were arrogant and short with people but now that I have had some time in blue I understand where it comes from and it is not always as it seems.

Ding, Ding, Ding....

I think that Sam just enjoys egging people on in the discussion boards. On the eteamz general discussion boards, he does the same stuff.

JMO, but I think that he really wants to understand how we umpires think and do our job. Granted, I believe he wants that information so that he can use it to his team's advantage, but after all, he is a coach.
