Conference

under nfhs rules your allowed 3 defensive conferences at which the pitcher must be removed. If a coach calls over to the catcher who calls time, and the catcher then walks to the dugout area to confer with the coach immediately goes to the pitcher to talk. Is that considered a conference?

Pitcher is removed for each conference in excess of three, not on the third.

And in your situation as I read it, that prob is a charged conf since coach asked for time to be called. If it was really fast and was just a few quick words, maybe not, but that’s not the way I read it

A charged defensive conference is anytime play is suspended upon the request of anyone in the dugout to communicate with any player on the field. The defensive position of that player is irrelevant
