It won't matter where the games are played. This is the Cubs year! I am looking for a Boston-Chicago World Series with the Cubs winning in six!
Elaine, the Cubs have four great pitchers working for them in the post season. Zambrano, tonight's starter, has been hot the past two months. Prior is the best pitcher in the show, for my money, and he starts game three. Clement has some powerful stuff when he is on, which he has been as of late. Yeah, this is certainly the year that the Cubs pay the Braves back for stealing Maddux from us all those many years ago. |
On behalf of the city of Pittsburgh, we would like to congratulate the Cubbies on their victory and the NL Central championship. We were glad to help you guys out, I guess. :D

The Boston Red Sox last World Series victory was in 1918. Among many others, the following teams have had World Series victories since then: New York Giants Philadelphia Athletics Boston Braves Brooklyn Dodgers Milwaukee Braves Washington Senators If the 2003 World Series pits the Cubs vs. the Red Sox, we should sell all of our worldly possessions, buy gold bullion, and go hide out in a cave, since it is a sure sign of the Apocalypse. :D |
As to the Twinkies, get a base ball stadium. Who's idea was a white ceiling and hefty bags for walls? Ranks right up there with having a flagpole on a hill in center field. Forcing me to root for the Yankees, shame on you.

The TEAM, OTOH... |

Good Call John, I am with you.....
Yanks will take their series, Boston theirs, and as much as I hate to admit it, Boston will become the new American League Champions..... They will play the Braves in the World Series.. http://smilies.crowd9.com/cwm/cwm3d/3devil3.gif Although I would rather see the Yankees win it all..... glen |
BTW, Great post Tom,
But Twins will be gone.... http://www.spao.de/pict/smilies/wave.gif http://216.40.249.192/s/cwm/cwm/evil3.gif glen |
Glen , Glen, Glen....
...the Braves will never make it past the Cubs. There is no way that they will be in the World Series. I am telling you, prepare for the Apocalypse or whatever it takes, but the two supposed "cursed" teams are on their way this year! |
Screw baseball!
The second most boring game in the world behind soccer. I'd rather watch curling. |
Hey, there's nothing wrong with curling. Curling will sweep the nation. No pun intended, of course. :D
|
Yeah, so how about 9 hits in 3 innings by the Braves, Scott?
Also with your buddy pitching!!!http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/rotfl.gif GO BRAVES! NUMBER 1! http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/lolup.gif |
No big thing, Elaine. They are heading back to the Friendly Confines with Mark Prior on the mound tomorrow. Lowest ERA in the league! Two games in Chicago and it will be all over with the Cubs advancing to the NLCS.

Just dropped in to say:
CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! HOLEEE COW! CUBS WIN! |
Ok Scott----- here's one for the Cubbies
http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/MexWave.gif The Braves couldn't hit when they needed to, left too many on base, couldn't pitch to the right spot, etc. The Cubs deserved the win. I'm still mad at that jacka$$ FICK! If I were Bobby Cox----http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/laser.gif But he probably only http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/argue.gif As for me.....http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/icon5.gif |
Neither of yous wants to face the Yankees, so give it
in....{though unfortunately, I think the Red Soxs will take the Yankees in the AL finals, if they take game 5 of their series...If not, it will be the Yankees. And, we don't really care if it is the Cubs or Marlins.... glen |
You know, I just looked out my window and saw a pig fly. I felt the ground below me, and it was freezing cold. What is going on here? An apocalypse? All I know for sure is that Pittsburgh beat the Braves... the Cubbies were just there to witness it, and what a game between the Sox and the A's.

No doubt about it that the trades with Pittsburgh set this post season up for the Cubs. One thing I am certainly thankful for. Cubs and Red Sox World Series.
I was reading some op-eds the other day regarding the potential for a Cubs/Sox series, and was amused when one pundit said that the Sox would really need to win it, because the anger of the fans would not let them deal with a loss. He mentioned that Boston would be in mayhem if the Sox lost the Series, whereas Cub fans everywhere would be able to handle the loss because after almost a 100 years, they have come to expect it. I...however...am not one of those Cub fans. This is the year. The curse of the goat will become a thing of the past! |
