No, no, no.

This ball that bounced twice and rolled into the batter is NOT a HBP. Obviously the batter made no effort to get out of the way of it. If you gave that batter first base ... shame on you.

Shame on me why?

Ball is pitched. The ball bounce in front of the plate and rolls into the foot of the batter. How is that not a hit by pitch for which the ruleset being used directs that the batter is awarded first base?

BTW: I really wish you would follow your own opinion and not comment on my posts like you have said you wouldn't do.

ASA if there was no attempt to avoid :)

Fed ball does nor require the batter to avoid being hit as long as the ball is completely within the batter's box.

Usssa follows this as well. Most of time it's not an issue but it is maddening when the ball rolls and the batter does nothing to avoid getting hit

I'm confused...

You're doing high school ball that has added local league modifications? Honestly never heard of such a thing.

(If it's U-Trip, please post it as such ... that's surely not the default assumption on here).

And Chap --- I don't always read who the poster is... I read the post and comment on the post.

In the "Please confirm - misc" topic last week:

2) ASA rules require avoidance effort by batter if HBP. Others (NHFS, PONY, USSSA) do not if completely in batters box.
