Hey gals and gals [that know Joel]

Got a message from him today..following is some of what he
said.

"joel wrote"

Hey Glen I know it has been awhile............

For the first time in 14 years............I find myself NOT coaching (or having a daughter playing in) a Fall Sport................it is actually pretty cool..........

My back and hip are much better........I have actually played a few rounds of golf in the past few weeks.......

Thanks for checking up on me...............

I never stop thinking of you and the guys (and gal - LadyBlue).........and wish I had more time to contribute.........maybe this year will look up..

As Always.......

Joel

That would not be good news in my area. The number of players and umpires we lose to golf are second only to fatherhood.

Glad to see he is doing well and hope he returns to us shortly.

We don't have golf courses, greens, whatever, just cow
pastures here in East Tx.

Glen,

Thanks for posting the reply from Joel! Can't believe he added my name!
You know, I still don't have the hang of the smilies so I can compete with your funnies.

Give Joel my best regards. Even if he is sidelined for awhile, maybe he can still participate from time to time?

Elaine, email me and I'll send you some instructions on the smilies & such.

Elaine,

It is hard to even stay close to Tom's use of the
smiles....He has a wide range....

Will pass on the info to Joel and maybe he will chime
in with a few posts.

He is a computer programmer...and probably has a wide
selection of "goodies" to choose from.

Glen,
I'm glad for the update on Joel, too. About that programmer stuff & his selection - dunno 'bout that. I make my living with these beasts too and just don't have any desire to get into some of the extras.

I crafted a wonderful and artistic reply to this thread only to have it disappear into cyber space...........so I will make this one a bit shorter.............grin

I miss my time on the boards more than anything.........I know that most of you know what I mean...........

Unfortunately...........I cannot spend more time here............

As many of you know.........having children approaching adult-hood takes up more of your time............I wish I did not have car payments/insurance/etc on my girls...................lol

Tom, Roger, Steve, Mike, glen, Elaine.........et-al...........I really do miss it.......and will try and come on more often..............my back and hip are much better...............and I will be calling fall-ball.........

I did see a thread awhile back about the 2003 ASA book...........Mike...........If you have any say so about the glue used on the books.......please make a plea to have the glue improved..........my book fell apart in two weeks...............

I know I may work it more than most umpires..........but.........dang............two weeks..............??? LOL

Hope to see all soon............

Joel

And to Mike...........fatherhood is out of the question..........I had that taken care of 10 years ago...........lol

I still like golf though............I may shoot a 84 one week and a 105 the next..........thats what makes it fun.........

Good to see you back, Joel. Here's hoping that the back continues to heal. I thought I'd noticed you hadn't been around as much, but I've got some stuff going on that keeps me from being motivated to be around as often as in the past - it may go on for a while. Kinda rough to watch someone just waste away with a disease that isn't curable yet.
