First, the correct term is offside (singular, not plural).
Second, if you double check the offside law you will see that a player can only be penalized if he is in an offside position at the moment that one of his teammates plays or touches the ball. The ball touching or being played by an opponent cannot cause a player to be offside.
So although the throw-in does not go directly to the offside player in your scenario, the player would not be penalized as the last teammate of his who touched the ball was the thrower.
The following sentence appears in 11:15 of the ATR: "Note that this exemption applies only to the first player to receive the ball, any subsequent play of the ball to a teammate could result in an offside decision by the referee." Now I see how that could be confusing, but just remember that it is written only for teammates, not opponents.
