2-Man or 3 -Man?
For HS games, do most of you do 2 or 3 man crews? Around here it's 2 except for the largest schools for boys or a game that is for a conference championship with a history of strong rivalry. All are 2 for girls games until play-offs. That was a real change for me when I moved last year because where I lived before it as all 3 man. No 3 whistle, but 1 whistle and two flags. I find it strange that schools use 2 officials for a boys soccer game with 22 players on a 120 X 55 yd field, but use a 3 man crew for girls basketball with 10 players on an 84 X 50 ft court.

For both Varsity and JV and both boys and girls:
If we have the people available, the games are assigned with the DSC. However, when we are short on refs, games get done with the dual system. We only assign duals to some small schools in outlying areas due to travel costs. |

Okay, I'm guessing most other people work in areas where there are more than _______ 3 5A 4 4A 6 3A _______ 13 schools in their district. Plus there are some small population differences between Idaho, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. (Sorry, I don't know where anyone else lives) |

dc/va. north of the river (dc) we use 2-man on all games. south of the river (va) we use 2-man on jv, 3-man on varsity (dsc), and 1-man on middleschool. some schools play cross-river and see both systems depending on where match is being held.
