Dangerous Play

Call or no call???

Player A is trying to clear the ball from the penalty area and in doing so lifts his leg to clear the ball. The foot comes up to about where the knee is, so it wasn't very high and within a normal kicking motion. Player B, who is trying to keep the ball in the area, bends down to head the ball and does so right at the point of where the foot of Player A is clearing the ball. Player A's foot makes contact with Player B's head. Is this a dangerous play call for either Player A or B, or no call at all?

What was the sequence? Dangerous play would seem to be an infraction by whoever acted last.

I disagree. I called a dangerous play on Player B as she was putting herself in a dangerous position by lowering her head below her waste rather than using other viable parts of her body.

CecilOne, I have to disagree with you. Phtneff had this one right in my sometimes less IMO. This is danderous play on B. She was the one who put herself in the bad postion by having her head so low. IK for A.

OK, and ruling 12-6-B seems to support your view.
I'm not sure that will change my perception. Doesn't depend on what the players could foresee?

If you are already certain of your call, then why bother to ask on this forum?

BTW, did the player put her head below her waist or her rear? :D

Ooops, WAIST!

And, it shouldn't matter how I called it or not. I am asking to get other people's opinions to know if they would have made the same call. And, as expected, there was a different opinion. I received a lot of heat from the opposing coach for the call so I wanted to know if others would have called the same thing. A big misconception is that a "high kick" is a foul (same with "playing on the ground"). People don't understand that the proper call is dangerous play and the foul is called against the person who is putting the opponent, or as in this case, herself, in danger.

Trust me, I'm very confident in my calls. I don't need to come on here to validate the calls I make. If I did, I wouldn't be an official. This is a discussion forum, not a testing forum.

I agree with that philosophy, however your previous post did not indicate such from you.

Rather than post a scenario and wait for feedback from other officials, you jumped in with "I disagree," after the very first respondent expressed an opinion that differed from yours.

You certainly seemed to be asking and answering your own question.
What's the point of that?

No offense, Nevada, but I hope I never have to ref with you or play a game in which you are reffing. Your comments come across as tedious and trifling, which I hope aren't reflective of the way you officiate a match.

On a discussion forum, the precision of replies is usually appreciated, even if they seem long/tedious and pin down the details/trifles.
