I don't disagree that the player should be able to lift his pivot foot to shoot, I just think that allowing it to be a step puts...

Well, it's clear to me now that I misunderstood...

Well, it's clear to me now that I misunderstood the nature of the pivot foot and its primary role in establishing whether or not a player travels. That's what led me to ask the original question....
