Just wanted to say thanks for your comments. They are helpful. During our pre-game (and last few practices), we talked to our players about many of the things you suggested.
When you described your 8th grade CYO game adjusted for skill with respected to traveling, that's sort of the point I was trying to make. Instead of adjusting for traveling, I think there are other opportunities for adjusting that make the game much less sloppy (and an environment where the players improve their basketball skills). Instead the thread turned into me complaining too much.
