Its true

Think about it...men's hockey has had a hundred or so years to get its act together. Women's hockey has only been a recognized international sport for about 10.

Former players usually make the best officials but, because the women's game is still in its infancy, you don't yet have the influx of former players into the officiating ranks.

It'll get better eventually, but for now, women's hockey officiating overall is WELL behind the the game itself.

I think the problem is that females cannot officiate as well as men do.

They get big games and $*#& it up.

I don't know if that's the problem. There are some women who are excellent referees. The problem is with affirmative action, they're trying to fill a quota, and because of that they're putting women on these games, who don't yet have the necessary experience to officiate at that level. Because of this they $*#& it up.

When games are assigned the best official for the game should be chosen, not the one who promotes gender equity.

Of course affirmative action is the root of the issue. It is also the root for many other things.

My point is that typically, women will be less qualified because they will not have the leg strength (ie. speed) to officiate hockey. If there were two Referees, then maybe things would be different. It's like when I saw a female firefighter. She was 5 foot 1. It made my laugh.

Let's not be stupid here. The issue is not with women doing men's hockey, its women officiating women's hockey.

A female official will have MORE than enough leg strength to keep up with a women's hockey game.

Did a woman beat you out for a job recently or something? Did your mother hit you too hard when you were a kid?

Then why have the female referees been way behind the play in female games I've seen? More so than in men's games with male referees?
