Did anyone else see Bill MacCreary work the Spengler Cup games? It was incredible how Paul Romanuk sucked up to him!

Is there any backlash out there, similar to the backlash against the NHL players in Europe?

Two things about MAc at the Spengler:

a) The NHL Officials Association made a statement at the beginning of the lockout saying that NHL officials would not work other leagues and take jobs from other officials and, to the best of my knowledge, they havent. There are tonnes of stories out there about officials taking other jobs (Fraser selling real estate, Don Van Massenhoven selling cars, etc.) so there's no real backlash about it.

b) Apparantly, according to the, NHLOA, the SPengler Cup tourney have always extended an invitiation to the NHL referees. Read this statement from the NHLOA... http://www.nhlofficials.com/display_...p?articleID=96
