Applaud the fallen?

Do you applaud (light clapping) for an injured player leaving the field?

Even as a fan in the stands it feels too much like I'm applauding them getting the injured player out of the way of the game rather than supporting the injured player.

It makes sense if the kid gets up under their own power - outside of that is seems like an awkward transition to put something bad behind us and move on with a game. Applauding as they haul some kid away on a stretcher has never seemed like the right thing to do!

As an official - never
As a fan - reluctantly due to group mentality

if I'm not busy and happen to notice, sure, why not, but if not, no big deal....this seems like a trivial thing either way

I give a quick "atta boy" one or two clap if the kid limps past me.

Good will is always appropriate. Esp in h.s. athletics.
