overtime question

A wins the toss before OT and elects to go on offense. They score a touchdown, on the successful kick try B3 roughs the kicker. A chooses to keep the points and enforce from the succeeding spot. My question is this, is it 1st and goal from the 25 or 1st and 10 from the 25. My question comes from reading pg 75 of the rule book 5-3-1 the line to gain is always the goal line. I would think it is 1st and 10 from the 25, but I am not sure.....

If you use the 10 yard OT proceedure, the line to gain is always the goalline. A new series can only be awarded by penalty. Therefore in your case it is 1st & 25.

The beginning of any OT series is always 1st and goal, never 1st and 10.

Just remember that you get rid of the chains for overtime and only can use the down box.

Canadian Amateur Rules:

Our OT goes from the 35, 1D possible by gaining yards.

In the GWN, I believe it would be 1D/10 from the 50.

Also be aware that the procedure used to resolve ties in the Federation rule book is recommended, not mandated. State associations are empowered to use their own procedure for dealing with ties (See NF 1-7 - Table 1-7 #9). So any answer to this type of question is state specific. For example, here in NJ, we use the NCAA procedure: 1-10 from B's 25. B may score on a turnover and end the game.

### this depends on what state your are in. We do not use the NF suggested OT proceedure and as a result, chains are used because we start at the 20, 1st and 10. Fouls enforced from the succeeding spot are enforced from the 20
