What if the second penalty was for a foul behind the end of the run?

Can you say "All But One?"

Good point. So the spot of the IFP becomes the basic spot, and fouls by the offense behind the basic spot are penalized from the spot of the foul (i.e., All But One). Even though the penalty for IFP might be declined, the spot of the IFP would still be used as the basic spot for any other fouls committed during the down.

But back to my earlier question:

If Team B declined the penalty for an IFP and accepted the penalty for a second foul by Team A, would the loss of down aspect of the IFP penalty still be enforced, or would the down be replayed?

The down would be replayed if another live ball foul (with no LOD provision) is accepted in lieu of the IFP.

So, 1/10 on A40. A throws an IFP at A38 while also holding at the a) A39 or b)A35.

Options for a) are
Accept IFP 2/10 A33 or Accept holding 1/10 A28

Opptions for b) are
Accept IFP 2/10 A33 or Accept holding 1/10 A25

Do I have that right?

Not quite. Why 2/10 or 1/10 for all options? You're either replaying the down or losing it.

NFHS rules:

The IFP is enforced as a running play. The end of the run is the A38.

Accept IFP, decline hold: 2/17 A33 for either situation.

Accept hold, decline IFP: a) 1/22 A28. b) 1/25 A25. All-but-one enforcement. B is the "but one" scenario.

We don't reset the chains. The LTG is still the 50.

If the IFP is declined, it's 1/22 at A28 or 1/25 at A25. The LTG isn't going to change, after all -- it's still midfield.

And that's why I referee the football that doesn't use a line to gain. :D

I read the LOTG once on a lazy Sunday afternoon. That book sure is thin in comparison to the NCAA football rule book. :D

2/10 if the IFP is accepted, 1st down if some other penalty is accepted instead.
