My name is unimportant.
But what I have to say is very important. Jesus Loves You. |

I'd just act as if she can't be heard and continue walking to the lockerroom. Any response at all to a fan gives them some sort of satisfaction. I only respond to head coaches and game management/on field personnel (if necessary).
Exception - there is usually a cadre of 10-12 yr old boys playing hanging out outside the gate in any given venue that want to give the crew a high five as we walk in or out of the stadium. It's fun to give knuckles and a smile. Goodwill never hurts. But, in contentious situations with a parent - not so much as a glance. |
it's easier when there is a crowd just to keep walking. It's also easier at a Varsity level to keep walking but JV can be a little different atmosphere here. Sometimes the parents are right on the sidelines with the teams (as it was in this case) and, if it's a low pressure, friendly contest, there are conversations between plays about the score, time left, etc.
One of the crew members said, "it's a secret" and we kept walking. She responded with "well, it won't be when I call tomorrow and report you." It's weird because in my years of officiating, I usually know when someone is upset. We still don't know why that person or one of the coaches was mad at us. Had the same two teams for the JV game on Saturday and it went off without a hitch :D |

Anyone asks me anymore I always say Jeff Rutledge. They want to know if I was the QB from Alabama.
