They have an undocumented feature of the pea getting stuck and making your whistle sound like a parakeet passing wind.

In otherwords, I don't think so though from attending hockey games they seem to still be the preferred whistle of AHL and by extension I would imagine NHL referees.

I have one of those NHL whistles. They have a deeper tone.
Compared to a Thunderer they are huge.

I gave it to my kid to pay with.

I bet the kid can't wait for NC to drop knickers and Northwestern striped socks so he'll get them...

Talking

Actually he was calling lines in AYSO. And if he doesn't mow the yard this weekend all he will get is beads.

He's got his first MS game today. Starting receiver, safety, KO return, & punt team.

I've spent the last week teaching "I'm ON/I'm OFF" vs. "am I good"

Thanks for all the input guys... As advised, I'm going to try both... So far I actually prefer the sound and ease of the thunderer (in So. Cal the pea probably not a big problem), but I'll give both a try and see which works better for me.
Thanks to all for your help here.
