In Minnesota all officials get the same amount, usually $54. However, some schools pay $55.

No bonus for wearing the white hat.

Also I need to know if your association have a five or four man crew for varsity and three man or four man for afternoon games. Also, are your afternoon games timed by the new timing rules or by the old rules. Thanks.......Larry

Aj........The reason why here in So.Cal. that afternoon games are run by the old clock is because the average game is fifteen minutes longer and with the traffic here at five thirty (3:00 starting time of game), it is difficult to get to Varsity game at night that starts at seven. For security reasons, games here ( about almost two hundred at night ) ends at nine-thirty. The state office felt it was better to use the old rules of timing and have the games end around five so if yo have a night game, you can be at the site early or pre-game. Thanks for the info, I will pass it on to our association.......Larry Gonski

Cool

In Texas we get paid according to the gate receipts for the game. The minimum is about $35, but on an average Friday night we will get between $60-$100. The schools also pay 2 mileages, @$.28 per mile round trip.

Mr. Gonski,

Most conferences in Minnesota now pay for 5 officials for varsity high school games. That is new this year. Last year MN had mostly 4 man crews. MN pays $54 to $55 for each official on both 4 man and 5 man crews.

Underclassman games vary a little bit from school to school but generally here are the guidelines the schools use.

JV and Soph games pay 3 man crews $34 to $36 and are 12 minute quarters with regular stop time.

Freshman games pay 2 man crews $34 to $36 and are 10 minute quarters with regular stop time.

The time is almost always kept on the field so the official with the clock can run time as needed.

Mileage is rarely a factor for games close to the TC metro area. However, if a crew has to travel to an outstate game the school may give a bonus for mileage.

Regards,
AJ

In Western North Carolina we get $60.00 for a varsity game with no travel. All 5 officials are paid the same. We receive $50.00 for JV games with a 4 man crew.

Rookie....You should be getting over forty
dollars for an afternoon game basically
because the school or school district should
relize that you should be compensated for
taking time off from work and also for gas m
ileage from to and from the game. Assigners
have a difficult time getting good officials
to ref. these games. The underclass coaches
always seem to scream how bad we are in the
afternoons. If the schools would pay a
little more, the better officials will show
up. Here in So. Cal. the lowest for an
afternoon contest is $41.00
for a freshman game. I would imagine the
rest of the guys on this board will have
higher or lower pay...Larry Gonski

Military Dependent Schools Japan:
6 man crews
Jv 28
Varsity 40
Inter Service approximately 50
White bonus 5
One travel 25
We actually make our money with intramurals: 3 man crew 20 per game + WH bonus 3 games per nigth 20 min running clock halves.

In the state of Kansas we recieve $60 for a varsity game. The white hat receives the drivers check. For Jv the crew gets 40 for the game, but the white hat receives $45 and the drivers check. Junior High is $30 for the crew and $40 for the white hat, plus the drivers check. They are mostly 4 man crews, but due to shortages of officials we have been forced to use 3 man crews occasionally.
