Question

I am fairly new to Footbal Officiating. Have finished my 4th year (have 20 in Basketball), and will be taking the Federation test this coming fall.

Do any of you know of a good study guide, on-line or otherwise, that will help. I have tested twice successfully, so I know the "degree of difficulty" associated with this test, and the requirements increase for each level of advancement.

I must say, Basketball rules are MUCH easier!

Thanks,
Blackhawk

Thumbs up Have you tried ARS?

Try going to the site for Athletic Rules Study:

http://www.rules-study.com/

They sell these CD disks that have the last 5 years of Federation exam questions, plus the rule and case books for easy reference. And a penalty enforcement exam. Its a great bargain for the price ($25 the last time I checked).

Cool

I remember a new football official friend back north
who couldn't get above a 65 on rules tests on his own--
but got in the 90's after using those computer
study guides---
I guess they are worth the money if you
are struggling with the tests !

If all you want to do is take tests, then the CD is good. However, if you want some verbage behind the rules and examples, then I recommend the "Officials study guide to NFHS football rules"

You can find out how to order via Ref magazine, NASO or Honigs.

It is worth the price.

Cool

As you should obviously know--
the rules tests are more of a reading test
than any practical application----
I've known some officials who could
get 100 on an exam and have zero
common sense on the field.
