Another season come and gone

Well, my season officially ended Sunday afternoon with some youth games. I had a pretty good season with 7 Friday night varsity games, 3 ECO games, 2 playoff games (for a total of 9 varsity games), and several other JV and below games.

Already looking forward to next season. I now get about 6 months off until spring practice (May). Then crank back up at the end of July for another year. It can't get here soon enough.

Two things I want to do this off season --- read the rules and continue to study them. I also want to go into next season in the best shape I have ever went to a season. I am an umpire and move well for a big guy...I want to be able to move even better next year.

We get a year older each season and the players stay the same age.

Hope everyone has had a great season. Hopefully some on here are still going and will work a championship game somewhere!

In the words of JRutledge - peace!

I finished my season last Friday night. I was the white hat for the Virginia Independent Schools Championship game. Couldn't ask for a better game to end the season or career. Final score was 14-7. The losing team had a 60 yard drive late in the fourth quarter. Came up short on a fourth and 2 at the opponent's 10 yard line with 19 seconds left in the game.

In the words of Bret Favre, I am retiring once again. Some of you may remember I retired four years ago after 50 years of officiating football. Our supervisor of officials talked me into coming back for another year. Well, it became another year after that, and another and finally a fourth year. This time I am definitely retired.

So you worked 12 games in total?

I did 85 games!

No, I was on the field for a total of 9 varsity games on Friday night. I also do jv, freshman, middle school, and some youth. I would have to look at my spreadsheet to know actual number of games, it is at work and I won't be back there until Monday. If I was guessing, I worked 40-50 games this year.
