Please answer this question?
Was there a year or two under NF rules that The kicker of a PAT could be roughed, the roughing called, and the kicking team be forced to decline the penalty to keep the points, as opposed to enforcing on the kickoff? Last year we had it enforced both ways by different white caps.... |

Actually, that rule was put into effect about 10 years ago. This year's change allows for a penalty on B on a two point try to be enforced on the kickoff. Jim, whoever made you decline the penalty last year was wrong.

Steve, what rule change are you speaking of from 10 years ago? The change to allow any defensive foul during a successful try, to be administered on the kickoff, was added this year.
Jim, you should have been able to accept the penalty, have it marked off oin the kick off and keep the 1 point. [Edited by BktBallRef on Sep 23rd, 2002 at 02:50 PM] |

BBR,
Until this year K could accept the penalty to be enforced on the kickoff on a successful one point try. The rule change this year made that an option for all successful trys. The first rule was instituted in the early 90's.

Fouls by B on 1 and 2 point trys.
To summarize the new rule: Any live ball foul by B on either a 1 or 2 point successful try is enforced on the kickoff.
On a one point try by kick, A can keep the points and enforce the foul on the kickoff, or they can move the ball half the distance and replay for 2 points.
