Sorry folks, I am not a football official (basketball is my thing) but I was hoping to find out what the deal is with Peyton Manning being refused to wear high tops shoes. Obviously, he wanted to wear them to honor Johnny U. but is there something in the rules that would prohibit him or anyone else wearing this style? Thanks in advance for clearing this up for me!

Perhaps you should elaborate. I haven't heard anything about this.

The NFL has a very strict policy on uniforms. Look how many fines are handed out because the stirrups or sox aren't the proper length. If someone wants to wear different shoes than the "normal" style, they must request this BEFORE the season starts. Frankly, I think this was a c..s.. call by the NFL. Manning, or anyone else, who wanted to wear hightops yesterday to honor Johnny U, should have been allowed to do so.

Got to agree with the Blue guy. Johnny Unitas was the prototype for todays QB. If the NFL kept Manning from wearing hightops they were being churlish.
