Illegal Numbering
 
I do not have my rule book handy- please help me with a rule reference.

#51 lines up in the backfield as a blocking back. Team A runs a play-action pass and throws to a swing pass (forward pass behind the L.O.S.) to #51 who advances 10 yards before being tackled.

I have a live ball foul for illegal touching- five yard penalty from the previous spot and loss-of-down. What is the rule reference please?

CANADIAN RULING:

Ineligible receiver downfield. 10 yards from PLS, repeat the down.

To avoid the foul, # 51 would have had to report as eligible.

5 yards and LOD is correct.

If the spot of the foul was behind the LOS, then that should've been your enforcement spot.

I don't know anything about Canadian FB, but is that right? Ineligible downfield on a pass that didn't go beyond the LOS and the ineligible wasn't beyond the LOS either?

Seems odd.
