It Happens In The Nfl Too????
Having done it once this year, I now feel better after watching the referee in the Jets - Chicago game, go the wrong way for the opening kickoff. But, the question-- I know the toss is done indoors before the game and the show at the center of the field is just that... but do teams pick the end of the field they want during that toss or the one outside?

Haven't been to an NFL game in years, but today I was at that game.
As soon as it was determined who won the toss, all the captains started running off the field. The Referee still had an open mic and you could hear him distinctly ask Chicago "what goal do you want to defend". That player clearly pointed with both hands toward a specific end-zone. What was really meant by the gesture was that was the direction they wanted to kick rather then which goal to defend. Seems like a bad way to answer the actual question. It was quite comical to see the players switch around twice as they initially lined up correctly, then the Referee said to switch, then there was a conference with the Chicago sideline in order to straighten out the toss selection and they switched again. |

I went to an NFL game last year. I believe they did the toss on the field in front of everyone. I will say it was not like I was paying that close attention either.
Peace
