Did anyone notice that some of the replacement officials were wearing fitted caps and some were not. The fitted caps looks much more professional. If I am going to get the chance to work a NFL game, I going to at least look my best.

If you EARN a chance to work a NFL game, I assure you that you will look damn dapper.
You have to take into account these people are indeed scabs, and their appearance is merely outward reflection of the kind of people they really are. |

From another discussion board, those officials were not present for the pre-season meetings where hats were distributed. All of them were given ADJUSTABLE hats (I presume because the NFL wanted the logo on the hat). Some of the replacement officials apparently wore their hats from college or other venues.
Don't shoot the messanger please. I don't have a strong opinion one way or ther other. [Edited by mikesears on Sep 13th, 2001 at 10:18 AM] |

While we notice things like adjustable hats, I can assure you that the casual fan does not. You can't blame this on those that you call scabs. They wore the equipment that was issued to them by the NFL.

They're not scabs. They are replacing greedy fools who think they're bigger than the game. You would think they have enough brains to note what happened to the MLB umps who resigned. Bob |

I am not a football (but I do officiate futbol, that is soccer to you guys) but the people who officiated the last round of preseason games and the first week of regular season games are indeed scabs and are guilty of unethical and unprofessional conduct. I will not go into details here but you can read my previous posts in both the Football and Basketball Forums and this matter.
