NFHS
Time is running out in the 4th period with the score A-0 and B-6. A is downed at the B 2 yard line as time expires, however B is flagged for a live ball facemask foul. After the enforcement, A is awarded an untimed down and scores a touchdown to make the score A-6, B-6. Do we have another untimed down for a try or go to overtime? |

They have earned the right to try by scoring. Why would you take that away from them? The only reason you wouldn't allow the try is if the point was meaningless. For example same sitch except A 0-3 B and A scores a TD on the UTD. It is now A 6-3 B and they extra point means nothing to this game.

Just getting ya thinking before this Friday. I'm sure B's coach would be advocating for OT. I believe rule 3-3-4 is your answer. I don't have the rule book with me at work, but I read it yesterday evening, and studied this scenario, and what chapter and verse to quote to the B coach, should he lobby for OT.

He shouldn't be loobying for anything but his job if he doesn't know that they get to try for the extra point.
