Ok guys here is the situation. Please help...... Thanks
As time expires in the 2nd period, Team K scores a TD. With the clock showing 00:00, they line up to kick the try. The kick is good and (a) R9 slugs K7 well after the play, or (b) R9 roughs the kicker, or (c) R9 runs into the kicker. What are Ks options? |

Without digging through the rule book....
a) The penalty is assessed to start the 3rd qtr.
b) & c) The period is not extended for another untimed down. K can accept the penalty and go for 2 or decline it and the period is over.

Not quite:
In a)dead ball foul, administered from succeeding spot which will be the start of the 3rd quarter, and R9 is ejected. in b)and c) Rule 8-3-5 states "If during a successful try, a foul by B (R in your case) occurs A is given the choice of: a. accepting the penalty and replaying the down; or b. accepting the result of the play and enforcement of the penalty from the succeeding spot." So in b) 15 yards enforced at the start of the third quarter or replay the try from the 1 1/2 yard line. And c) 5 yards enforced at the start of the third quarter or replay the try from the 1 1/2 yard line. |

Canadian Ruling
Quote:
(b) and (c) If the try is not good, K will get another chance. Half the distance on the convert, or from PLS and the q can then be extended by one play with the yardage (25 and 15) on the ensuing kick-off, or in the 3q. [Edited by JugglingReferee on Aug 15th, 2005 at 01:05 AM]

correct, since these can be enforced from the suceeding spot they can be enforced on the kickoff starting the 2nd half. And true the period cannot be extended for an untimed down per 3-3-4a
