Maybe they previous down was 3rd and a penalty was enforced and a 1st down was awarded. Then a coach discusses with the R about the rule and it is determined that the penalty is not an automatic 1st down. The previous down will now need to be known. [/B][/QUOTE]
Wouldn't that require the coach to know the rules????????
