I'd signal again. Your first signal only indicates that you've got a play ended with the ball in the EZ... there could still be penalties. You would make this first signal, even if you knew that there WERE penalties. So, you make the signal, head toward your next position, clear from players, ensure there are no flags, and then inform the pressbox that the final result of the play is a TD.

On the other question - a long TD, I don't stop at any specific point. I start heading downfield, see the TD signal, scan for flags, stop wherever I happen to be (clear of players), and signal the pressbox.

I agree with Jim. The first signal says the ball is in the EZ and it stops the clock. The second one actually awards the score once you've checked there was nothing else on the play.

I don't think you need to go very far upfield to give the second signal. Just get out in the open so that you can be seen.
