This is for NFHS rules situation. How much "howler monkey" yelling does an official have to take before he throws the flag?

If you are out on wing, do you throw the flag, or do you wait for your white hat to save you?

And finally, if this is a school sponsered activity, and in effect, a classroom, then why should any abusive behavior be tolerated? If it wouldn't be appropriate in the school then why allow it on the field?

Each individual has his own tolerance level. It's simply a matter of how much you want to take and at what point the flag will make the game better.

Personally, I don't tolerate profanity or personal attacks. I'll let him have his say as long as he doesn't violate those two items. But once I've heard enough, he gets a stop sign that he'd best not run.

If you've been listening to the guy for 3 and a half quarters, don't suddenly grow 'nads in the 4th and stick. If it's obvious early on that it's gonna be a problem, pop him and set the tone. It'll make the game better.

I agree, if he's bein a jerk end it early, don't put up with it for three quarters and than decide to penalize him when it could really affect the game.

Talking

One of the evaluators I've met said that if he is at the hash questioning the marital status of your parents at the time of your birth, you should throw your flag.
