Did everyone hear what has happened in Georgia? There was a situation where a penalty enforcement was done incorrectly and a team was given a 1st and 10 instead of a 3rd and 17. The team scored on that drive and won the game by less than a touchdown. The head coach of the team played the remainder of the game under protest and filed an appeal through the Georgia high school sports association. The ruling came down and the teams are being forced tonight to go bacjk to the field, enforce the penalty correctly, and replay the remainder of the game. How silly is this? What kind of can of worms is being opened here? Whayt does everyone think?

We've been beating this up over in the football forum on the NFHS web site.

wow the political machine of the GHSA at work again. I wish that the NFHS would overturn this before the game got replayed

I forwarded the story to our state association and was assured that this will NEVER happen in NC.

This game was replayed.....same team won both times. I just hate this was done, there is no telling what the future holds. Way to go Georgia.

For everyone's knowledge bank, the rule against protests was not instituted to be uniformly applied to all NFHS games. State associations can replay part of a game based upon an upheld protest. Check out "Strange Night in Georgia" for all the details.

REPLY: Actually, if memory serves me correctly (not a given at my age!), the team won by a larger margin than they did in the first game.
