Holding behind the LOS
I've been retired now for couple of years so have a question.
I know they changed the rule of holding or fouls behind the LOS by the offense. I seen this happen last Friday night at a game. There was a big disagreement between the crew and Coach on the call. Offense had the ball on their own 5 YDL. The QB took the snap was running around in the endzone to avoid being sacked. He was able to make it back to the original to LOS. Flag was thrown for holding in the endzone. After the crew had a long conference, they than awarded a safety on the play. So the question: the new rule that certain fouls behind the LOS goes back to the previous spot, is fouls in the endzone in this situation an exception? |

Fouls in the endzone by the offense has always been a safety if enforced. That was the case before the rule change; I do not see why there would be an exception.
Peace
