Proper Enforcement?
Had this happen Friday evening. Quarterback is scrambling in his own endzone. While he is running around, there is a definite blindside block by A in the endzone. Eventually, the quarterback gets tackled in the endzone as well. We know we have a safety, but does B have to decline the blindside block to get the safety or can they accept the foul and have it be accessed at the succeeding spot and make K kick from the 10?
We chose the latter and I believe we were wrong. |

There is no provision to enforce the penalty by the opponent of the scoring team on a safety. After a TD/Try or FG the scoring team kicks off. On a safety the opponent is actually kicking off. The result of the play and the penalty are the same, safety.
