NFHS Can a punt be used as a free kick following a fair catch??

No, a punt can only be used for a free kick following a safety.

Even if allowed, why would you ever want to? YOu can always punt on 1st down from a snap after the fair catch if you really want to give the ball back.

In the hopes a punt goes over the crossbar and between the uprights for three points. If that were legal, I'm sure we'd see it more often.
