In my old association I was told that the players should face their own basket, "just because." In my new association this year I'm told that they stay on the end that they're warming up on so they don't have to shoulder past each other. Okay  The second scenario does make more sense to me as it goes along with the philosophy that each team's warmup is conducted entirely on its own end of the court.

I only make sure they're in the gym.

But, seriously, somewhere near the center court. I don't really care where they stand but I have never seem them anywhere but standing on the side of the court where their team is warming up.

Depends what state I am working in. Wisconsin is at center court without coaches; Minnesota and Iowa are in front of the scorer's table with coaches.

They don't even put 18 minutes on the clock in my neck of the woods...JV ends, 15 on the clock (if being generous), we aren't usually back out until 10.

I'm in the commonwealth as well.

When I first started getting R assignments a few years ago I had the players switch sides and face the basket simply b/c that is what other guys did.

Now I just have them come to the center circle as they are. I've also shortened what I say considerably and view the whole deal as more of a ritual than anything else.

It doesnt really matter where they stand or what we say to them. They are teenagers and will forget whatever we said as soon as they walk away. And that's if they were even paying attention to begin with.
