Where do you have the captains stand for captains meeting

When the captains are called for the pregame meeting at center court, do you have the players switch sides and face their first half basket, or do you let them stay of the side of the court where they are warming up?

I know its a minor detail, but I've seen some partners have the players switch sides and face their basket and others not. Now that I'm being assigned the "R" role a lot more this year, I have to decide whether to tell the players to "switch sides and face your basket" or to let them stay on their side of the court.

I was just curious to see what others did ... perhaps there is some logic or reason that I'm not aware of that would make one way preferable to the other.

Thanks.

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

We aren't told one way or another in SC, but almost everyone has the players face their basket.

The next time I have them "switch sides" would be the first, for me. Seems silly for a meeting that won't last more than 30 seconds.

Agreed.

Here, though, the meeting is with captains and coaches, so the players switch to stand next to their coaches.

In front of the scorers table with their coaches on their bench side

On each others shoulders?

When I am the R, I tell my partner in the pre-game we are going to do this.http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...SizeRender.jpg

I do not make them stand anywhere. I shake their hands and they go where they want to be.

Peace

The local custom here is to have them stand next to their coaches, which is on their bench side. It doesn't really matter though.

Ours are done at the center circle and only involve players. I guess it depends what kind of a meeting you hold in your local area.

This is what we do. I figured it really didn't matter. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

It's mandatory for the coaches to attend the captains meeting in my state

BryanV21 Tue Jan 13, 2015 02:48pm

The teams warm-up at the end they are going towards in the first half, so facing that way in the pre-game meeting seems like overkill. Not to mention that, at least in central Ohio, our captains' meetings happen around the 18:00 mark, so they may forget anyway.

Oh, and we have our meetings in the center circle.

Same here and that is the case across all sports I am aware of if there is such a practice.

And the meetings have to take place in front of the scorer's table. One of the reasons to my understanding is someone, somewhere said something inappropriate to a player and now coaches had to be involved and they wanted them near the table. I guess so what is said could be observed more closely.

Peace
