I have worked at many NCAA games (not as an official) and i have noticed the one syllable thing.

Blue for Purple
Red for Burgundy
Red for Orange


Sometimes it's not even a syllable issue, for example:
One Team had a Gray uniform, but most of the time it was called White.
Ive even heard Gold called White


Hah, what would you do in these rare situations
