A couple of the NorCal teams told me that their experiences at tournaments in Palm Springs, Torrey Pines, and San Diego were similar to that expressed in the article posted above.
They characterized the games as extremely physical. Said that the officiating was fair and the same for both teams, but vastly different from the home area which has put an emphasis on freedom of movement, handchecking, illegal screens, and rebounding contact.
