Here is what I pre-game:

3-Whistle...

If I "T" up a Coach I will administer the FTs. (It gives me something to do rather than just standing there opening myself up to something)

If I "T" up a player I will talk to the Coach during the FTs.(If I "T" a kid...I should have no problem at all explaining the reason to a Coach)

From My Pregame ...
 

Game management: If I call a fifth foul on a player, I’ll tell the coach, unless I think it’s going to be a problem.
If either of us warns a coach, or the bench, let’s let each other know about it. If one of us calls a technical foul
on a coach, the noncalling official will remind the coach that he must sit down.

Why throw gasoline on the fire, unless you want the fire to erupt?
